Education
Jung Sun Kim received her BS in Pharmacy from the College of Pharmacy at Ewha Womans University (Seoul, Korea). She pursued her graduate work at Ewha completing her MS in Pharmacognosy and then at Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey (Piscataway, New Jersey, USA) where she was awarded a Ph. D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, majoring in Medicinal Chemistry.

Professional Experience
Jung Sun Kim is currently the Executive Vice President of Dongseo University and full Professor at the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science. She has served as Dean of the Office of Human Resources and Evaluation Office (2015-2016), Dean of Minseok College of Liberal Education (2017-2018), Dean of Graduate School (2021), and Chair of the Division of Health Sciences (2008-2013). She has been a member of the Association of Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers (KWSE) since 2003, serving as Board member (2014- 2017), Vice President in charge of International Cooperation (2018-2019), and Branch President of the Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam branch (2014-2015). She has served as member of various national and regional committees which include the Committee for Advancement of Science and Technology of the Busan Metropolitan City Government (2015-2019) and the National Science and Technology Council Expert Committee on Life Science and Welfare (2015-2016). She has been elected to the board of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) three times (2011, 2017, 2020) and has served as Secretary General (2011-2014) and Vice President Conferences (2017-2020). She is the current President (2021-2023) of INWES.

Biography
Prof. Jung Sun Kim has held various leadership positions in academia, government committees and non-governmental organizations. She is the first woman to be appointed Vice President at her university and in Busan. She is one of the few female leaders in higher educational institutions in her region. As a medicinal chemist, she has published over 50 papers on drug development topics in internationally peer reviewed journals and teaches chemistry related courses at her university. Her current work focuses more on academic administration and policy research on women in STEM. She was Director of the Busan, Ulsan Gyeongnam Institute for Supporting Women in Science and Technology (BIS-WIST), a Ministry of Science commissioned center, from 2009 to 2011; she developed the ‘small group support’ program which was to encourage the formation of small size networks among women in STEM. She has been involved with INWES activities since 2003 and played a leading role in the formation of APNN, the first regional network of INWES in 2011. From 2014, she and her colleagues have initiated the international collaborative survey among APNN members; an annual report on the perception of gender barrier together with global gender indices have been published, 2014 to 2018. In April, 2019, she was conferred the Order of Science and Technology (Woongbi Medal) by the Korean government for her contribution to the international activities for women in STEM and to the national advancement of women in STEM.
